Why not just Godot + ChatGPT or Cursor?
You can, and many people do. The catch: a chat window or a code editor can write files but cannot press Play. You copy code, run the game, copy the error back, repeat. Fliper Engine closes that loop inside Godot itself.
| Godot + chat/Cursor | Fliper Engine | |
|---|---|---|
| Writes GDScript | Yes | Yes |
| Creates scenes and nodes | You do it by hand | Yes, in the open editor |
| Runs the game and reads errors | No | Yes, after each change |
| Writes and runs tests | Rarely | Yes, a test gate per part of the game |
| Pixel art and sound | Separate tools | Built in |
| Your project | Plain Godot | Plain Godot (MIT), no lock-in |
How it works
- Download Fliper Engine for Windows, macOS or Linux and open "My first game".
- Sign in with Fliper in the AI panel (one click, free).
- Ask: "add a double jump and a coin counter". Turn on Live to watch it open the scripts it edits and run the game.
Prefer your own key? The panel also works with OpenRouter, OpenAI or a local model.
Questions
Does Godot have AI built in?
No. Godot 4 ships without generative AI. Fliper Engine is a Godot 4.7 build with an AI assistant added as a panel in the editor.
Is Fliper Engine free?
Yes. The engine is free and open source (MIT, built on Godot). The Fliper AI has a 7-day trial for $1, then Starter is $5/month; Pro is $15/month.
Can I open my existing Godot project?
Yes. It is a normal Godot 4.7 editor, so it opens Godot 4 projects. The AI reads your project and works inside it.
Do I own the game?
Yes. The output is a plain Godot project in a folder on your drive. Sell it anywhere, no royalties.
